Do your kids Shop?

Just curious.... what are your thoughts about taking your kids shopping? Do you take them grocery shopping, clothes shopping or leave them at home? If you leave them at home do you wait until they are in bed and then go or do you have your husband watch them?

I take my kids most of the time. They are 4 and 6 so they are easy to manage verses a newborn. I like for them to see the whole process especially the fresh section. We take our time in the fruit and veggie section. I try to ask them questions such as , "Where is this corn grown from, who grows corn that you know?" "What veggie is this?"

I also like to explain to them the difference between 'real food' and processed food. This way they are able to make wise choices when it comes to food. Do we have processed foods, yes of course but they are limited and honestly my kids have learned how refreshing fruits and veggies make them feel verses chips, fruit snacks and things like it.

Some people are totally against taking their little ones to the grocery and others and totally set on taking them. What are your thoughts?

We Help Mommy

Do your kids help their mommy? Sometimes it's easier to just dust, vacumn, sweep and do all the chores by yourself. It's quicker, no explainning and no going back over it to get it up to our standards but, what if we let our little ones help? I've found that my kids love to help their mommy. They enjoy keeping our home tidy and clean and I think that's a good thing plus it helps take a little bit away from our daily work.

A few things that my kids help with:
sweeping {they can do this all day any day because all of our floors are hardwood}
clean sinks
dry dishes
vacuum rugs
rake outside
pick up sticks outside
pick their clothes up
help fold laundry
help unload groceries

Do you let your kids help you with chores? What do they help you with?

Guest Post: Bert & Ernie Food

Have you heard of Kitchen Fun with My Three Sons? Amazing just about sums it up! It's ran by a lovely lady Jill who is an artist with food! She has three cuties that assist her as she crafts beautiful food for her family! Today, she is sharing her bio and one of my favorite {although I think each dish she makes is my favorite} Bert and Ernie!

My name is Jill and I have loved baking for so many years. The fun really started in the kitchen when I had my little boys! We create fun and silly snacks, lunches, dinners, and treats. We have goofed off in the kitchen for a long time and thought it would be fun to share our creations and start a blog.

We started it back in March and we have had a lot of fun with it! There is a lot of boy related food of course....super hero's...animals...bugs...aliens...and lots of cartoon characters! The boys help think up a lot of the ideas. We create things as we go along and the way we like them in hopes that everything will be original and enjoyable for others to take a look. I work part time with 3 kids so everything you see is pretty easy to do and will not take a lot of time. We would love for you to check us out and let us know what you think about our blog Kitchen Fun With My 3 Sons.

Ingredients:
1 clementine, 1 banana, raisins, 2 mini marshmallows, and 1 red fruit roll up.

Peel the clementine and save the peel.
Separate it in half and put them on each plate.
Peel the banana and cut in half. Place those on the plates.

Ernie
Cut a slit towards the bottom for his mouth.
Roll up a fruit roll up tightly and then cut part of that for the nose.
Cut a small piece for his tongue.
Cut a mini marshmallow in half for his eyes.
Cut a small raisin for the pupil on the eyes.
Cut more of the raisins in half for his hair.
Cut the reserved clementine peel for his ears.

Bert
Cut the reserved clementine peel for his nose.
Cut the banana peel for his ears.
Cut a mini marshmallow for his eyes.
Cut a small raisin for the pupil on the eyes.
Cut a slit for his mouth.
Cut a small piece of fruit roll up for his tongue.
Use 2 or 3 raisins for his eye brows. Cut raisins in half for his hair.

Amazing, right? Check out her blog and give her some comment love and look at all the tons of ideas she has!
