Is your home making you sick?

This is a bit of a longer video {7 minutes} but, I think it's worth your time. NBC took a family who were having several health issues and had a team of professionals go into their home to see if their health issues could be linked to an unhealthy home.

What's your thoughts about this video? It's a little overwhelming to me because I don't know how to check a lot of these things in my own home, I do however want to do what I can to keep my house clean and up to par. Oh, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to give up my scented candles!

  1. This is why I recently started using all non-toxic products {Shaklee}. My hubby and two kiddos have a lot of allergy problems and as soon as my hubby comes home at night, they hit him hard! I have never used anything scented in the house {nope, no candles} and now we have all natural cleaners and laundry stuff, plus the central filtration system on our a/c-heat unit. But, I believe it after reading this, too:

My friend, Toni, has done more research on our products, but this is a little glimpse of how bad it is. I believe it!

  2. I actually think that video was a bit depressing. There were a lot of problems presented and not many solutions. It's a good starting point to know that you need to research more. What to do about the carpets? What about the mold? The hot water heater? We live in an apartment so we don't have control of those things.

My personal viewpoint - the video was more of a reality check than a plan to fix issues. But it's a good starting point! :)

I thought the video on the zero waste was more inspiring!

  3. As far as the candles are concerned, you should be able to make your own using natural products and essential oils.
