Jesus wants the Rose

Are we not all sinners in complete dependence of grace and mercy of our Father? If we think we are not then we have deceived our selves into thinking we have merited our salvation/right standing with God. We have not.
We are completely dependant on His undeserved goodness towards us {through Jesus}. This video from Matt Chandler has challenged me so much in understanding our sinfulness and the Gospel.
What are your reactions to the video?

  1. What a thought-provoking video! I totally get his point, sometimes, just like Jesus said of the Pharisees, we get caught up in the laws of religion and forget the purpose He came was to save sinners. We do get disappointed by pastors, priests, leaders in churches.. but they are human and susceptible to falling just like us...I wont let their fall keep me from my church because they are just a few of many many devout and committed leaders, but I do understand how he felt. I believe that he was right to feel that way. The basic principle that Jesus taught when He was on earth.. the highest commandment He gave was to LOVE. Everything done in love will yield the right fruit. You cant help someone to see that they need to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour with judgement, but you can by showing them His love.

Thanks for the video... aren't we all just battered roses? The good news is He refreshes us every time we confess our sinfulness and we become new again!

  3. I think Mr. Chandler's point about Christ wanting that rose is really good and how that pastor's sermon should have ended. What a powerful testimony that would have been to the woman who was visiting that day.

Is there more to this sermon? Any idea what happened to the woman he invited? Was she able to accept God?
