Fondue Fun

I love having a 'Fondue' night at the house. I break out my 'melting pot' pour in the chocolate, slice up the fruit and enjoy with the family.

For years I have used the regular chocolate bark and chocolate chips but, recently I began using Sugar Free Chocolate icing. I love it all the same {even more knowing it's not going to rocket my blood sugar levels}.

What things do you like to dip your fondue in? I like all the above fruits plus cherries and apples and my husband likes to add Peeps!

  1. THANK YOU for posting this. On my blog, I'm doing a winter cleaning challenge {you should join the fun!}, & I'm currently cleaning my kitchen. Well, I have TWO Fondue-thingamajigars, & I was going to throw them out because I have never used them in the 5+years that I have had them. I believe I have changed my mind, & have decided to keep them! Do you make a meal of this or was this as a treat?

  3. I've never heard of sugar free icing. Is it a product or something homemade?

  4. My all-time favourite thing to dip in chocolate is cream cheese! It's kind of like cheesecake on a stick. Sort of. I buy the light stuff so I don't feel (as) guilty. Cut up bite-size chunks from a brick of cream cheese and dip. 90% of my friends who have tried this love it. But if you don't like cream cheese, well then you won't like this. But it's deep, deep love from this gal! Now I'm craving fondue. Hmmm, may need to break out the fondue pot this weekend.

  6. Fondue sounds really good! I've had it before but I've never made it. I wonder if a fondue pot is actually required... I found a way to melt chocolate without having a double broiler. Maybe that same method will work?

  7. We had stonefruit come into season here in Australia recently, mmmmm peaches and chocolate, nectarines and chocolate. One of my little giulty pleasures is actually to use marshmallows too :P

Also, to the commenter, the fondue pot is definitly a must for CHEESE fondue, but for chocolate fondue, no need. I have used boiling water in a pot with a metal mixing bowl on top, and I know a friend who actually bought an extra large oil burning candle holder for this specific purpose, the candle seems to keep a good heat in hers.

  8. YUM. I love fondue!! It's especially fun to have fondue parties. We dip all sorts of fruit in it, and we also like to dip cut up pound cake in it! Although the cream cheese somebody mentioned sounds AMAZING. And my sister is OBSESSED with cream cheese, so I'm going to mention it to her!

  9. I love fondue! I have to bust mine out and use it this weekend. I just like the regular fondue stuff (berries, bananas, pineapple). I love your idea of using apples! I'll have to give that a whirl.
